Jasmeet Bhamra, known as Jass (Kareena Kapoor Khan), is a police officer haunted by deep trauma and anxiety following the brutal murder of her child by a psychopath during an arcade shooting. Despite the arrest of the perpetrator, she struggles to come to terms with her profound loss. Her situation becomes even more complicated when she is assigned to investigate the case of a missing child in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, who is later discovered dead.

Director Hansal Mehta’s Buckingham Murders is a gripping crime thriller that delves deep into the darkest recesses of the human psyche. The film follows Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Jass, a woman haunted by a tragic past, as she becomes entangled in a murder investigation eerily similar to her own.

Set against a backdrop of religious conflicts, a loveless marriage, deep-rooted misogyny, drug addiction, and grief, Buckingham Murders paints a bleak picture of society. Mehta’s masterful direction creates a tense and suspenseful atmosphere that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.

While the film’s screenplay falters slightly in the second half, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s performance is a standout. She delivers a powerful and emotionally raw portrayal of a grieving mother struggling to cope with her trauma. Her nuanced performance captures the depth of Jass’s suffering and resilience.

The supporting cast also delivers strong performances. Ranveer Brar, Kapil Redekar, and Ash Tandon bring their characters to life with conviction. Kapil Redekar’s portrayal of Saqib, the main accused, is particularly compelling, showcasing the devastating effects of addiction and violence.

Despite a few shortcomings, Buckingham Murders is a gripping and thought-provoking film. It offers a chilling exploration of human malevolence while also highlighting the power of resilience and hope. Kareena Kapoor Khan’s fans will not be disappointed by her powerful performance, and those seeking a thought-provoking thriller will find much to appreciate in this film.
