Telugu Star Nandamuri Balakrishna faces trolling on Twitter as he says ‘He Don’t Know Who Is AR Rahman’

On Wednesday, netizens had a field day after a video of Telugu actor and MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna went viral. In the interview, the actor claims that he has never heard of Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman and claims that the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, is equal to his late father, actor-politician NT Rama Rao’s “toenail.”

Balakrishnan, in an interview to the channel TV9 said,
“I don’t know who AR Rahman is. He won an Oscar and I don’t even know who he is. He gives a hit once in a decade.”

In 1993, AR Rahman composed the background score for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s film “Nippu Ravva.”

Speaking about Bharat Ratna, Nandamuri Balakrishna, said: “I feel that Bharat Ratna is equal to my father’s toenail. No award can compensate for the contribution of my family to Tollywood. So, only the awards should feel bad. Not my family or my father.”

Soon after, a Twitter fight broke out, with Rahman supporters viciously uploading jokes and the hashtag #whoisbalakrishna becoming popular.

One user on Twitter tweeted: “How can a senior actor like #Balakrishna talk about Indian legend #ARRahman? Will people accept if a similar thing is being spoken by a Tamil actor on #Rajamouli?”

Another one wrote, “Born to spoil is DAD good name.. #whoisbalakrishna this head weight attitude is the biggest reason for people to hate him.. funniest part is he is MLA”

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s supporters were quick to defend him, claiming that he was a popular hero and a philanthropic figure.
