Making mark with Sonu Satheesh Kumar performance as the wicked vamp in the popular serials Sreedhanam, Sonu Satheesh Kumar is now a well known figure on Malayalam TV. Sonu’s portrayal of the vamp Veni was not only powerful but had a comic touch to it that made the serial even more popular. The TRPs were very high thanks to the hilarious villains in Sreedhanam who were more entertaining than the positive leading characters. Later Sonu proved her dancing skills in the celebrity reality show, Sundari Neeyum Sundaran Njanum which she won. Sonu is now playing the lead in another soap family drama Bharya aired on the same channel Asianet.
Early Life and Family: Sonu was born for the stage. She started taking training classical dances from the age of three. Even in her school days, she was very active on stage taking part in dramas and dances. So Sonu is basically a dancer turned actress. In fact Sonu has won the title of Kalathilakam twice in the district.
Hailing from Trivandum, Sonu could not resist the temptation of the cine world. Apart from her penchant for dancing, Sonu has completed her post graduation in Bharatnatyam. That much is the depth of her love for dance.
Sonu on the Small Screen: As she got fame winning the Kalathilakam title, Sonu got many offers to host TV shows. She grabbed each opportunity that came her way. She was the presenter in the famous music reality show Vaalkannadi on Asianet TV. Later she turned to Tamil serial and played a key in a daily soap known as Anbe Vaa on Vijaya TV. This paved her way for more opportunities in Malayalam.
Sonu Satheesh Kumar breakthrough in Malayalam serial came in the serial Sree Guruvayoorappan on Surya TV. Later she played another major role in Thulabharam telecasted on Surya TV again. Before she became Veni on Asianet she played a character in the popular drama Kanal Kannadi.
How Sonu became Veni: Noted for her freshness and girl next door appearance, Sonu was picked up for the role of Veni in Sreedhanam which went on air in 2014 and continued till 2016. Veni was the younger daughter in the Paallat family who was haughty and cruel. She schemed to bring destruction on Divya who is the female lead. Later as the story progressed, Veni, along with her villainous parents also showed shades of comedy. Sonu proved herself as a skilled actress portraying every emotion in the character to perfection. She was noted to be overshadowing the female lead Divya. In fact Sonu’s costume was very flattering for the female audience. Sonu revealed in an interview that she received many compliments for her dressing in the serial. She was her own stylist for the show.
Sonu in Bharya: After Sreedhanam was wrapped up, Bharya is now being aired in the prime slot. Sonu is experiencing a drastic change in her work in this serial as she is playing the new avatar of an innocent daughter in law here. Unlike her previous character of Veni, she plays Rohini who is the subject of torture by the other vamp in the serial.
