Akshay Kumar’s biopic on the late Jaswant Singh Gill’ to hit cinemas on 13 October?

Akshay Kumar has done films based on real incidents. From Kesari, Rustom to Mission Mangal, Akshay has worked in films inspired by real incidents and now the actor is now gearing up for another film based on a real person. Akshay has taken on the role of the late Jaswant Singh Gill, a former additional chief mining engineer, who saved the lives of 65 workers trapped in a flooded coal mine in Raniganj, West Bengal in 1989. The yet to be titled film has been in the news ever since its first look was shared online last year where Akshay was seen wearing a turban.

Now as per latest media reports, the film has got a new title and a release date. As per  Box Office Worldwide, the biopic is titled ‘The Great Indian Rescue’ and will arrive in cinemas on 13 October. Media portal ‘Box Office Worldwide’ has revealed in its report that the makers are planning to release their film on 13 October. Although makers haven’t yet officially unveiled any details about the film’s title and release as of yet.

Parineeti Chopra also appears in the film. Tinu Suresh Desai, who previously worked with Akshay Kumar on the 2016 courtroom drama Rustom, directs this upcoming biopic, which is produced by Pooja Entertainment.

Following the box office debacle of Akshay Kumar’s previous release, ‘Selfiee,’ a lot is riding on his future flicks. Selfiee barely made Rs. 23 crore at the worldwide box office, making it Akshay Kumar’s biggest box office flop of the last 15 years. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar has already begun the shoot for his next aerial action thriller ‘Sky Force’. Apart from ‘The Great Indian Rescue’ Akshay has few other films lined up for release including Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘ Soorarai Pottru’ (2020), ‘OMG 2’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ where he will be seen sharing screen with Tiger Shroff.
