Shah Rukh Khan once again becomes the HIGHEST paid Indian actor thanks to ‘Pathaan’

Shah Rukh Khan is currently riding high on the success of his most recent blockbuster, ‘Pathaan,’ which became the first Hindi film to reach the Rs 1,000 crore mark at the global box office in the original Hindi language (excluding Chinese dub). With spy thriller ‘Pathaan,’ the ‘King Khan of Bollywood’ returned to the big screen after a four-years of hiatus and breathed new life into pandemic-stricken Bollywood, which had experienced back-to-back flops.

According to new media reports, Shah Rukh Khan has once again become the highest paid Indian actor after earning a whopping sum of Rs. 200 crores from Pathaan’s success, and that too without charging a single penny as fee from Pathaan’s makers. Yes, you read that right, SRK walked away with a whopping Rs. 200 crore through his profit sharing deal with YRF.

According to numerous media reports, the actor had opted for a 60% profit sharing deal with YRF as his remuneration for the film. The film was made on a Rs 270 crore budget, and YRF earned a total of Rs 603 crore from Pathaan’s Indian theatrical and overseas releases, as well as satellite and digital rights sales. If the film’s expenditure is deducted from its overall earnings, YRF made about Rs 333 crore with this film.

And Shah Rukh Khan has received 60% of the whole amount as his compensation, which amounts to roughly Rs 200 crore. This is not an entirely new trend, as since the last decade, many Bollywood and Tollywood actors have chosen to take a predetermined percentage of the film’s profits rather than collecting an upfront fee.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan also starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the pivotal roles. The film is part of YRF’s Spy Universe, which will continue with Tiger 3 this Diwali.

Meanwhile, SRK will next be seen in Atlee Kumar’s mass action entertainer ‘Jawan,’ in which he will share screen space for the first time alongside Nayathara. The film is set to be released in theatres on June 2, 2023.
