Actor Taapsee Pannu is currently hard at work filming Mulk 2, the highly anticipated sequel to her 2018 courtroom drama Mulk. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film aims to tackle significant social issues such as identity, faith, and civil rights, continuing the thought-provoking narrative established in the first installment. For the past two weeks, Taapsee has been shooting pivotal scenes at a church in Bandra, which has been transformed into a courtroom set for the film. According to a report by Mid-Day, a source revealed,
“Taapsee has been filming courtroom portions over the past few days. The emotionally charged sequences showcase her delivering lengthy monologues. She is fully prepped, and it’s evident how deeply she is invested in the material.”It remains unclear whether she will reprise her role as lawyer Aarti Mohammed from the first film, but her courtroom scenes are anticipated to be among the most powerful elements of the sequel. The Mumbai schedule is expected to continue for another four days before the team relocates to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana for outdoor shoots, which will last approximately 20 days.
An insider shared insights into the film’s approach, stating, “Anubhav’s past films demonstrate his ability to tell gritty and realistic stories. He wants to ground Mulk 2’s narrative in its social and geographical context, with locations finalized in Lucknow, Meerut, and Karnal for rally and courtroom scenes.”The entire filming process is projected to conclude within the next 20 to 25 days. Following the completion of Mulk 2, Taapsee is set to begin work on Haseen Dillruba 3, continuing her busy schedule in the film industry.
