Shahad Ali was born as Syed Shahab Ali who hails from New Delhi where he was born on 29th September in the same place. He did his schooling from Anglo Arabic Sr. Sec School, Delhi followed by Maharaja Agrasen College, University of Delhi followed by Jamia Millia Islamia, and finally entered into National School of Drama, Delhi. He did his graduation in Arts followed by a PG Diploma Program in Mass Media and Creative Writing. He comes from a middle-class family as his father used to make kites and sell them in the Delhi market. 

His father died when he was too young, while during his college days, he used to work as a part-time journalist but his interest in acting led him to enter NSD. He had the opportunity of working with Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon. It is the country’s first live entertainment and theatre platform. He did a number of plays and later headed to Mumbai to try his luck in the acting world. 

He then got the chance to work in TV shows while talking about his debut in Bollywood, he was seen in Kedarnath with Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput. He then got his first break in digital media, getting the role in the web series The Family Man working with Manoj Bajpayee and Shargib Hashmi. He was applauded for his performance in the film.
