Sushant Singh Rajput Case: Subhash Chandra Apologizes to Rhea Chakraborty as CBI Closes Investigation

Last week, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officially filed a closure report in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, concluding that no evidence of murder was found. The agency’s findings corroborated the AIIMS forensic assessment, which determined that the actor’s death on June 14, 2020, was a suicide, dismissing any notions of foul play.
In light of the closure report, Rajya Sabha MP and media baron Subhash Chandra publicly addressed the media’s role in the case. He stated, “In the Sushant Rajput murder case, the CBI has filed a closure report. I believe this is due to a lack of credible evidence. There is no room for ambiguity, which means no case is made out.
“Chandra expressed concern over how the media portrayed Rhea Chakraborty, commenting, “In retrospect, I feel that Rhea Chakraborty was unjustly portrayed as an accused by the media, particularly by Zee News and its editor and reporters at that time.” As a mentor to Zee News, he apologized for this portrayal and urged the channel to acknowledge its role, saying, “Others followed Zee News. As a mentor of Zee News, I advise them to be brave and apologize. I do apologize to Rhea, even though I had no involvement. I am like ‘एक मुख रुद्राक्ष’—the same outside and inside.

Call a spade a spade. “The politician referred to the CBI investigations against Rhea Chakraborty, which were initiated after allegations made by Rajput’s father. Rhea, who was Sushant’s girlfriend at the time, also filed counterclaims against the late actor’s family. After four years of investigation, the CBI found no evidence implicating anyone in the case, effectively clearing Chakraborty and her family of any wrongdoing.
Public figures such as Dia Mirza and Kubbra Sait have also criticized the media for its aggressive coverage, calling for accountability. The closure of the case marks an end to years of speculation and underscores the importance of responsible journalism and ethical reporting.
