Saiyaara Worldwide Collection: Mohit Suri’s Romantic Comeback Smashes Box Office Records

Director Mohit Suri’s return to the romantic genre with Saiyaara has been making headlines, shattering box office expectations since its release last Friday. Starring newcomers Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday in the lead roles, the film has impressively grossed nearly ₹190 crore worldwide, outperforming several big-budget action blockbusters along the way.
According to the film’s producers, Yash Raj Films, Saiyaara earned ₹25 crore on Tuesday alone, marking a 4% rise on a weekday. This surge has pushed its net domestic collections to ₹133.75 crore, with the gross domestic tally close to ₹160 crore. Overseas, the film has earned just under $4 million (approximately ₹30 crore), bringing its global total to ₹188 crore. In just five days, Saiyaara has secured its place as the eighth-highest-grossing Indian film of the year. If the current momentum continues, it is poised to break into the top three soon. While surpassing Chhaava’s ₹809 crore global total may be unlikely, Saiyaara is expected to comfortably claim the second spot by the end of its theatrical run.

How Saiyaara Outperformed Superstar Blockbusters

Made on a modest budget of ₹50 crore with two fresh faces in the lead, Saiyaara was never anticipated to achieve such immense success. Yet the film defied all odds, crossing the ₹100 crore mark domestically in just four days, and is well on its way to crossing ₹200 crore worldwide in under a week. Along the way, it has surpassed the lifetime earnings of major films like Ram Charan’s Game Changer (₹186 crore), Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly (₹179 crore), and Salman Khan’s Sikandar (₹176 crore). Moreover, Saiyaara set a new record for the highest opening weekend ever for a romantic film, catapulting Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda to overnight stardom and making them the nation’s new romantic icons.
