Sunny Deol’s Gabru Postponed: Fans Must Wait Longer for the Action Star’s Next

Following a massive streak of hits including Gadar 2, Jaat, and the recent ₹300-crore blockbuster Border 2, Sunny Deol is currently at the peak of his career. However, fans looking forward to his next venture, Gabru, will have to wait a little longer. Originally slated for a May 8 release, the emotional drama has officially been pushed back.

The Delay and New Timeline

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the makers are currently reworking the schedule. “The film won’t arrive on May 8. A new date will be locked within the next few days, followed by an official announcement,” a source revealed.

This marks the second delay for the film, which was initially intended for a March 13 release. That date was avoided to stay clear of the Ramzan period and the box-office juggernaut Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which arrived just six days later.

The Salman Khan Factor

One of the biggest draws for Gabru is an extended cameo by Salman Khan. Directed by Shashank Udapurkar, the film features Salman in a pivotal role that is said to be “all heart.”

Insiders suggest Salman has three key scenes in the film, providing an “adorable and highly entertaining” contribution to the narrative. The superstar reportedly filmed his portions quietly over a year ago.

The Competition: May 8 Slot Filled

While Gabru exits the May 8 window, the date remains busy with two other releases:

  • Aakhri Sawal: A multi-starrer featuring Sanjay Dutt, Amit Sadh, and Sameera Reddy.
  • Dadi Ki Shaadi: A family entertainer starring Kapil Sharma, Neetu Kapoor, and Sadia Khateeb.

Sunny Deol’s Massive 2026 Calendar

Despite the delay of Gabru, Sunny Deol remains the busiest man in Bollywood this year. His upcoming slate includes some of the most anticipated films of the decade to hit on August 2026: Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The magnum opus Ramayana, where Deol will portray Lord Hanuman.

With several mid-sized and big-budget films hitting theaters between June and August, it remains to be seen where Gabru will find its new home in an already crowded 2026 film calendar.
