Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel’s Gadar to re-release in cinemas from 9 June

Sunny Deol’s Tara Singh from iconic ‘Gadar- Ek Prem Katha’ returns to the big screen after 22 years. It’s already a known fact that makers of iconic romantic drama are coming with a sequel Gadar 2 but now  makers of the iconic blockbuster have decided to bring back the magic of the prequel to the big screen by re-releasing the film in theatres again on 9 June.

Zee Studios released the trailer of the newly-improved Gadar Ek Prem Katha on YouTube and revealed that the prequel will be released with new specifications and alterations including 4K quality with Dolby Atmos sound.

Sharing the trailer, Sunny Deol wrote on Instagram, “22 saal baad Tara Singh aur Sakina ki prem katha phirse aa gayi hai aap sabke dilon mein apni jagah banane. The movie returns to the big screens on 9th June for a limited time in 4k and Dolby Atmos.”

About Gadar: Ek Prem Katha: Originally released in cinemas on 15 June , 2001, the romantic action drama went on to become an all-time blockbuster at the box office with positive reviews from critics as well as masses. The film  was set in the backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947 and also starred Lillete Dubey and Utkarsh Sharma in the pivotal roles.

 About Gadar 2:  Helmed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 will see Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their roles. Utkarsh played the role of Sunny and Ameesha’s son in the first part. The sequel Gadar 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on 11 August where it will have to face the strong clash with Ranbir Kapoor’s most anticipated gangster drama ‘Animal’.
