Sumukhi Suresh Joins Netflix Is a Joke Fest 2026 as the Sole Indian Comedian
Indian comedian, writer, and actor Sumukhi Suresh has been announced as the only Indian comedian featured in the lineup for Netflix Is a Joke Fest 2026. The prestigious global comedy festival will take place across Los Angeles from May 4–10, marking its third edition as one of the world’s largest comedy gatherings.
Produced by Netflix in partnership with Live Nation, the festival will host over 350 live performances including stand-up shows, variety acts, podcast tapings, and exclusive events across multiple venues citywide. Sumukhi is set to perform on May 5 in Los Angeles, a milestone in her international career. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “If you had told teenage Sumukhi from Nagpur shy and underconfident that she’d perform at one of the most prestigious comedy festivals, she wouldn’t have laughed but would have been in disbelief. This is a core memory and a thrilling milestone. I can’t wait to bring my Indian multilingual madness to the LA stage.”
The 2026 festival also features global comedians like Zainab Johnson, Molly Kearny, Liza Treyger, Aurie Styla, Michael Longfellow, Chris Redd, and filmmaker-comedian Kevin Smith, among hundreds representing comedy’s global landscape.

Sumukhi’s festival appearance comes during an expansive international run. She will tour the U.S. with her stand-up special Hoemonal from April 24 to May 17, following a performance in Dubai on March 28. Hoemonal delves into themes of identity, relationships, and gender expectations through Sumukhi’s candid, conversational humor. She rose to fame with sharp online sketches before creating, writing, and starring in the acclaimed Prime Video series Pushpavalli.
Her presence spans stand-up, television, and mentorship on Comicstaan.
