Great Grand Masti Movie Review

great grand masti

Overdoing of humor hampers the film, which is backed by poor performances

This Friday we have a solo release in the form of Great Grand Masti. Though it was scheduled to hit the theatres on 22nd July but the makers decided to release a week earlier to get a solo release but with a risk of having the impact of Salman Khan Starrer film called Sultan. Well, now talking about this film GGM it happens to be the third installment of the Masti Franchise directed by Indra Kumar. Also, the pirated version of the film leaking over the internet made the makers to advance the release of the movie. The film is produced by Ekta and Shobha Kapoor along with others under the banner of Balaji Films along with Maruti International. The film has Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani and Urvashi Rautela in the lead roles. Time to have a look at the film review as under:

Great Grand Masti Plot

The plot of the film remains the same; however, the lady at the center is changed with a virgin ghost in it played by Urvashi Rautela. All the three men Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani are still seen with the same kind of disorder having the deep thirst for their carnal desire the most. So, while pursuing for their thrust to quench it the best, they are seen trying the same virgin ghost and bring home the seductress back on track. Though the makers claimed that the film is a family movie and has nothing to do with adult content, but looking it can be give you the answer. So, what happens when the trio becomes the victim of a virgin ghost is interesting to explore.

Great Grand Masti Review

The script has nothing new or creative stuff in it rather being made on the same patter unlike seen in the previous two installments of the franchise. The film though has funny moments and loads of humor but doesn’t suit them all they few of them have gone overboard doing things a mess in the movie. Also, the script has not a great story in it except the similar kind of theme being imbibed in it but it fails to give the kind of humor element in it. You may like the comic timing of Ritiesh Deshmukh but others remained good for nothing. Also, in terms of story the film has fewer to deliver.

Talking about the performances, there is much less of performances in the movie by the actors. Thanks to the script which has the least demand from the actor but to ask them to make people laugh, which ironically is not seen and witnessed in the movie. Except Ritiesh no one seems to be par in terms of performance. The two others – Aftab and Vivek Oberoi simply went on to mess up things in the film going overboard for making the audience laugh. Riteish Deshmukh is an accomplished actor who is known for his comic timing. This can be a treat to watch but the other two have made a big mess of their performances. Now talking about Urvashi Rautela, she has very much less to deliver to the audience. But no worries, she was simply roped in to keep the glam element par and she has done justice in this regard. The others in the film remained okay but have less to do with contributing the entertainment value of the film.

Direction, Music and other elements

Talking about the direction of the movie, nothing exceptional is seen over the silver screen. The mess created by the lead actors along with the others bear testimony to substandard kind of filmmaking that was noticed. Now if we talk about the music, again we have the same story to tell as most of the songs are not par and failed to go on the top of the chartbusters of the leading FM channels and others.  The other elements like screenplay, editing and other technical elements too didn’t go at par as expected thus hampering the quality of the film.

Great Grand Masti Review Last Word

Great Grand Masti is essentially an adult comedy film, which fails to have any novel story forget about the performances one can expect in it. Though the film claimed to be hilarious but more often the audience could get humor being added deliberately which have made things bad to worse. The actors boasting the humor to the next level make things really out of control. Thus all in all the movie is not made that par as expected.

Rating – 2.5
