This time the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival was special as it has the presence of the most successful actors of the B Town called Shah Rukh Khan. He was seen inaugurating the said festival at the Netaji Indoor stadium in the city in his own style. On this occasion, we have several Bollywood veterans which included the top heroine Rakhi Gulzar, Ms. Mamata Banerjee West Bengal Chief Minister, Srabonti Chatterjee the ‘thali girl’, and Rakhi Gulzar apart from the actor SRK.
As SRK lit the ceremonial lamp, he allowed the people present at the event to come out with a wild cheer who seemed to have enjoyed every bit of the opening film by Satyajit Ray’s called the children’s classic “Goopy Gayen Bagha Bayen”, which seems to be celebrating the 50th anniversary. Besides, there were hordes of other guests who were present at the festival, which include Volker Schlondorff Germany’s Oscar-winning director who made the film “Sex, Lies and Videotape” along with the actress Andie MacDowell, and Slovak who graced the function.
SRK was also joined by Mahesh Bhatt, and the newly elected BCCI President and former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly. While talking in his speech, SRK called the 25th year of the festival to be among the vital landmark. He said this is not just for the Cinema of Bengal but for the entire country to feel proud about the same. He even called it to be a defining moment for the regional cinema. SRK was here in the absence of Big B who originally scheduled to accomplish this job.
