THROWBACK: Sridevi didn’t want Janhvi Kapoor to become an actress for THIS reason!
Janhvi Kapoor is one of Bollywood’s most popular actresses. She made her acting debut in Dhadak and has since appeared in films such as Gunjan Saxena, Kargil Girl, and Roohi. She also starred in the Netflix anthology film Ghost Stories, directed by Zoya Akhtar. Sridevi, on the other hand, wasn’t always in favor of Janhvi joining the film profession.
In 2017, when Janhvi was shooting for her debut film, the late actress told Mid-Day, “She wanted to do the film and initially, I wasn’t in favor. I don’t think it’s a bad industry, I am a creation of this world. But, as a parent, it would give me greater joy to see her married. But her happiness matters more, and if she does well as an actor, I will be a proud mother.”
Sridevi died on February 24, 2018, in Dubai. She died just a few months before her daughter Janhvi’s debut film Dhadak was released. Janhvi was extremely close to her mother. In an interview with Filmfare, Sridevi had said, “I’m closer to Janu and Khushi is closer to Boney ji. But we’re honest with each other and extremely close. Khushi is far more independent than Janhvi.”
