Sri Venkateswara Creations Producer Confirms Sankranthiki Vasthunam Remake with Akshay Kumar and Vamshi Paidipally’s Film with Salman Khan

At the recently concluded 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Sirish of Sri Venkateswara Creations officially confirmed the remake of the Telugu hit Sankranthiki Vasthunam (2025), starring Venkatesh, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Meenakshi Chaudhary, with Akshay Kumar in the lead role. Speaking to Gulte, Sirish revealed that the original film, directed by Anil Ravipudi and produced by Dil Raju and himself, is being reimagined for the Hindi audience with Akshay Kumar fronting the project.

Sirish also announced that Sri Venkateswara Creations plans to release at least six films in 2026. Among these upcoming projects is a highly anticipated collaboration between superstar Salman Khan and director Vamshi Paidipally, known for acclaimed films like Munna (2007), Brindavanam (2010), Yevadu (2014), Oopiri (2016), Maharshi (2019), and Varisu (2023).

At the same time, Sirish confirmed that their production house will be producing a film starring superstar Pawan Kalyan. Previously, Bollywood Hungama reported that Anees Bazmee and Akshay Kumar were drawn to the original film’s plot centered around a lead character caught between his wife and ex-girlfriend. However, to suit the Hindi audience, Anees Bazmee is reimagining the story, retaining the core plot but infusing it with fresh elements. The remake is said to feature approximately 60% new sequences alongside 40% of the original content, ensuring the essence remains intact.

The writing is currently underway, with the makers aiming to start filming the untitled project by February 2026. This film promises to be a fresh take rather than a straightforward remake, blending originality with the spirit of the Telugu hit.
