After facing a lot of hurdles, Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi finally hit the big screens. Directed by Rohit Shetty the film has been one of the most anticipated releases of recent times.
Sooryavanshi is the first big-budget Bollywood film to be released after the lockdown. Given the high level of anticipation for the film, forecasts predicted that Sooryavanshi would perform well at the box office, and the film did indeed perform well on Day 1. Despite a poor start in the morning, Sooryavanshi’s afternoon shows saw a dramatic increase throughout all circuits, with audiences rushing to theatres as if the pandamic had never happened.
Aside from these factors, Sooryavanshi received positive reviews from critics and positive word of mouth from the audience, all of which contributed significantly to the film’s success. In fact, the film has been praised as the ideal masala amusement for the Diwali season. In terms of box office take, Sooryavanshi had a larger opening day take at the PVR chain of theatres till 4 p.m., which is higher than most pre-pandemic films. Surprisingly, if the issue had been resolved sooner and advance had been opened, collections across the national multiplex chains would have been higher.
Sooryavanshi First Day Box Office Collection
Sooryavanshi First Day Box Office Collection is estimated at Rs. 20 to 25 cr. However, based on the pace of spot booking and the increase in footfalls, it appears that the film’s box office will easily surpass Rs. 25 crore and may even approach Rs. 30 crore.
If that wasn’t enough, trade predictions state that if Sooryavanshi’s box office continues on its current path, it will more than likely surpass Akshay Kumar’s previous release Mission Mangal, which grossed Rs. 29.16 crore on its opening day during pre-pandemic times to become Akshay’s all-time highest day 1 grosser.
