Soorarai Pottru starring Suriya enters Shanghai International Film Festival 2021; Ranks third in the IMDB’s list of top 1000 movies
Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru was released last year on Amazon Prime Video on 12th November 2021. The film was a blockbuster even with an OTT release. Not just the audience, the film was applauded by the critics as well.
Earlier the news about the film ranking third in the IMDb’s list of Top 1000 movies came out and fans couldn’t control their happiness. The film was trending all over social media. Before Soorarai Pottru, the first and second films are Hollywood cult classics – The Shawshank Redemption and The Godfather.
Now, topping this news came another one, it is that this Suriya starrer has now entered the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival under Panorama Section.
The blockbuster Tamil film Soorarai Pottru is produced by Suriya himself under the 2D Entertainments banner. Rajsekar Pandian, the co-producer at 2D Entertainments took to his social media and announced this news. He wrote, “Happy that #SooraraiPottru #PraiseTheBrave enters Panorama Section of Shanghai International Film Festival 2021.”

The Tamil language film, Soorarai Pottru is a fictionalized version of the book “Simply Fly” written on the life of Air Deccan founder Capt. G. R. Gopinath. Besides Suriya, the film also stars Aparna Balamurali, Mohan Babu, and Paresh Rawal. It is a direction by Sudha Kongara.
