Siddhant Chaturvedi’s Netflix Film Ramree, Backed by Ajay Devgn, Shelved Due to Budget Constraints: Report

Siddhant Chaturvedi is back in the news and this time for his upcoming Netflix movie called Ramree. Following acclaim for his role in Dhadak 2, Siddhant Chaturvedi was poised to build on his success with Ramree, a two-hero OTT period drama backed by Ajay Devgn. However, reports now reveal that the ambitious project has been shelved before production could begin.
As per Mid-Day, Ramree was envisioned as a large-scale film set in 1945, blending historical events with cinematic storytelling. Though in development for over a year, the film’s elaborate production demands led to escalating costs that ultimately became a major obstacle.
A source close to the project told the publication, “For an OTT film, this would have set a benchmark in scale and imagination, but budget constraints caught up with it. Even though the platform heads were excited about the story, the financial risks were too high, so they decided not to move forward.”
Another insider added that Ramree never reached the official greenlight stage: “A project is considered greenlit only when it goes on the floor. Ramree was an idea in development that did not progress — a natural part of the creative process where some concepts take shape and others don’t.”
The shelving of Ramree comes as Siddhant Chaturvedi continues to receive praise for his nuanced performance in Dhadak 2, which released a few months ago. The film, co-starring Triptii Dimri, follows the story of Neelesh, a law student from a marginalized background, and Vidhi, an upper-caste girl.
Their relationship highlights the harsh realities of caste discrimination and societal prejudice, earning Siddhant widespread acclaim. Stay tuned to know more about the film and others only with us and if you have anything to share do comment below and share your thoughts.
