Shraddha Kapoor to Lead Rahi Anil Barve’s Pahadpangira; Filming to Begin Mid-2026
Shraddha Kapoor is confirmed to star in director Rahi Anil Barve’s upcoming film Pahadpangira, putting to rest earlier rumors of her exit. Not only will she headline this dark fantasy project, but she is also set to play a creative role behind the scenes. According to a Mid-Day report, Kapoor is deeply drawn to the story’s originality and is actively contributing creatively, with talks of her possibly serving as a creative producer.
The shoot for Pahadpangira is expected to commence in mid-2026, following Barve’s work on his Netflix series Rakt Bramhand. Shraddha will begin filming after completing Laxman Utekar’s project later this year. This schedule underscores her growing involvement in genre-defying projects and signals her belief in Pahadpangira’s potential to develop into a franchise.Pahadpangira is described as a dark fantasy rooted in myth and folklore, exploring themes of feminism within the historical context of the Sati practice.
Initially envisioned as part of the Tumbbad universe, Barve reimagined it as a standalone feature after his split with producer Sohum Shah. Ektaa R Kapoor is attached to the project as producer.
Meanwhile, Shraddha recently created buzz announcing the animated theatrical film Chhoti Stree at the trailer launch of Thamma. Excited about the project, she shared, “Guys, Maddock Horror Comedy Universe is coming out with Chhoti Stree as an animated film! It’ll be released in theatres. It’ll be a dhamaal film for kids, families, basically, for everyone.” She added, “It’s a really exciting time for India. It really feels amazing to be a part of this universe.”
