It was Nawazuddin Siddiqui who played Manto on the silver screen. Now, as per the latest buzz, the popular host, comedian and actor Shekhar Suman plans to play the late popular poet and author – Saadat Hasan Manto. However, it will be a play and not a film, which will be directed by Randhir Ranjan Roy called Ek Haan. Manto was based in Pakistan and lost his life when he was 43. He is known to have given some impressive stories of different genres.
He has given more than 22 stories that are available in the form of essays, novels, scripts, and personal sketches. His work has gained good attention towards weaving stories that talk about partition and fierce desire. His character was brought to life when Nawazuddin Siddiqui played the Pak based author on the silver screen. Talking about the same, Shekhar said that he is glad that Nandita Das made a film on the life of the Pak based author.
He said that the film has given the people enough reason to see the life of the great author rather than getting rid of the memories and works he has done in his life. The film has given a new life to the late author in our society. He said he has not seen the movie though, but would be glad playing the character as per his own interpretation for the play. We know the actor Shekhar Suman has played the role of lyrist and poet called Sahir Ludhianvi called Ek Mulakat with Deepti Nawal apart from playing novelist-poet Amrita Pritam.
