Shamitabh Movie Review – Watch The Megastar Amitabh Bachchan In Complete Isolation

shamitabh movie review

This Friday, you have a solo release, which comes in the form of Shamitabh. The movie has Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan in it along with Rekha too making her cameo in it. In fact, this would be perhaps her comeback with Amitabh after a couple of decades though the two are not seen together sharing the same on-screen chemistry in any sequence or scene but their very presence can make the difference for the audience. The movie is produced by a slew of producers including Sunil Lula, RK Damani, Balki, and Rakesh Jhunjhunwala along with the Bachchan family and Danush. The film comes under the banner of their respective banners, while the movie is directed and written by R Balki. The music and soundtrack comes from Ilaiyaraaja album and background score, while cinematography was handled by P. C. Sreeram.  A number of Bollywood celebrities including Rohit Shetty, Anurag Basu, Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar, Rajkumar Hirani, Ekta Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, Gauri Shinde, etc. would be seen in the cameo role in Shamitabh.

Now, let’s check the plot or story of the film. You have two individuals played by Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush, who are known to have qualities, which they know the best, while the two are unknown about the same. Then you have a journalist played by Akshara Haasan, which is her debut movie. She encounters the two individuals during her job assignment and realises about their unknown talents. However, she feels that the two will not be able to get the success and recognition trying their luck solo; hence they have to team up to get the recognition. She plans to bring in together, which seems to be working for two. Amitabh is seen giving his voice to a deaf and dumb man played by Dhanush, however, when everything seems working perfectly, their egos clash as the two start taking credit by simply denying other’s contribution. Well, how things resolve between the two is an interesting fact to explore in the movie.

Now let’s talk about performances starting with Big B. Amitabh Bachchan has been phenomenal in terms of his performance in Shamitabh. Since he has already worked with R Balki in his earlier movie Pa, his performance in a character who gives his voice to a deaf and dump has been incredible. The role of cranky and churlish tantrum throwing is played by Big B with utter professionalism and dexterity. Hats Off to his performance, which once again prove out why this man is called as a megastar of Bollywood. The megastar with his gravelly voice is simply intriguing for the audience. On the other side, the performance of Dhanush as a co-star too was par, which was even applauded by Amitabh Bachchan, whereas Akshara Haasan’s debut role in the movie playing the character of a journalist too was good. Though the stars sharing screen with Big B fail to milk out his presence over the screen, yet Dhanush seemed incredible in the role of a man who pretends to be star taking the voice of Amitabh Bachchan. Akshara is simply seen cute with her face covering fringe of hair, her avatar is simply bewildering.

Now talking about the script, direction, screenplay and music, everything seemed went perfect. The director has left no stone unturned to keep the movie intriguing having made the film at one of the best locations of Lapland, Helsinski based in the northern Europe. Though the movie had a slow start but as the movie went on to unwind with every passing moment, it kept on turning out to be intriguing and interesting. The cinematography of the film has been incredible, thanks to some of the best locations and high skilled direction. In fact, Shamitabh is one of the first Bollywood movies to be shot in Lapland, Helsinski. Talking about music, Ilaiyaraaja is not known to do too many Bollywood movies, however, when he does, they often turn out to special. And Shamitabh is no exception. Its music has a very powerful and mesmerising, which turns out to be a bold composition becoming a tribute to the movie. The other tracks have different genre, which adds the poise element making the album worthy to stand higher over the chartbuster list. The other aspects like editing, screenplay and dialogues are par, which makes the movie worthy to catch.

Last Word : Shamitabh Movie Review

R Balki is among the veteran filmmakers of Bollywood, who is known to make some of the best movies. The movie is a classic piece with thundering performances of both Amitabh and Dhanush and don’t forget Akshara who has been superb in her debut movie while playing the character of a journalist. The movie starts with super tone and seen wrapping up with some sharp metaphor like how water requires the whisky but the alcohol does not need anything else. Hence watching the solo release this Friday even for the super diva’s Rekha’s comeback too can be a worthy choice especially when she is coming in a film with Big B after around three decades. Lastly, don’t miss the cameo of a number of Bollywood bigwigs, which happens to be an interesting part of the film.
