Bollywood handsome hunk Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for the release of his upcoming attraction ‘Padmavati’. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial ‘Padmavati’ is one of the most eagerly movies of this year. Shahid plays the role of the Rajput king Maharawal Ratan Singh, who is the husband of Rani Padmini (essayed by Deepika Padukone).
After the film ‘Padmavati’, Shahid Kapoor will start working on his next. The actor will work with the director Shree Narayan Singh, who helmed the movie ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. The flick will revolve around the problem of astronomical electricity bill. The makers have unveiled the title of the film and it’s ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’. The film is expected to release on August 31, 2018.
‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is the tale of the fight of a common man against power distribution companies over the issue of big amount of electricity bills generated. Shahid Kapoor is said to portray the role of a lawyer in it.
The female lead is likely to be essayed by Katrina Kaif. Her role will be of a philosopher, who guides and joins Shahid’s character in his fight against corruption. Talking about this development, a source revealed “Katrina loved the story and is keen to collaborate with him. She has already asked her team to work out further details,”
Speaking about roping in Shahid Kapoor for this venture, the director Singh stated “With films like ‘Kaminey’, ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Haider’ and ‘Udta Punjab’, Shahid Kapoor has definitely proved his mettle as an actor. Having said that, his star presence is undeniable and I look forward to working with him.”
Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Padmavati’ is produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions. The majestic saga is all set to unfold on December 1.
