After the super success of Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Kabir Singh’, he is all set for another Telugu remake ‘Jersy’. The makers of this cricket-drama are looking forward to signing it with Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor.
Initially, this sports drama clicked well with the audience. The movie was a blockbuster and won many hearts. The well known Telugu Nani played the lead role. Due to the success of the Telugu film, the makers of the cricket-drama are now looking forward to remaking the film in Hindi.
If reports are to be believed then the Hindi remake rights have been bagged by director and producer Karan Johar. Official announcements are still in a row. Telugu producer Dil Raju had refused to part with the rights.
As per Pinkvilla source, “It was Shahid who showed a keen interest in Jersey. He was instrumental in making sure the film gets a Hindi remake. When he watched the film, he felt it has got a universal appeal and it caught his fancy. It is extremely emotional and is based on cricket and Shahid has been wanting to do a sports film for quite some time now.”
So, the question is what is the real delay? Here is an interesting reason revealed, “Rana Daggubati who is a friend of Karan Johar and Dil Raju, the producer of Jersey, got both of them connected. It was Rana who told KJo to take up the rights to the film and when the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director watched it, he also loved it. Shahid also touched base with Karan and both of them agreed to do the film.”
But later on everything went wrong, “There was a disagreement over the remake rights. Dil Raju refused to part with the rights and demanded a really high amount. The main thing is that he wants to make it himself. The deal he was getting from Dharma Productions didn’t work out with him and Karan also decided to finally opt out.”
Now, let us see what happens next. We are eager for this remake.
