Ekta Kapoor reveals the differential highlights of web-series, The Verdict- State Vs Nanavati from its movies version

The Verdict State Vs Nanavati 1The Verdict – State Vs Nanavati trailer has been flowing all around the internet, creating an immense level of excitement amongst the audience due to its unique narrative. The series correlated from a real life story based on 1959 Nanavati case which was enough to shake the entire nation, becoming a landmark judgement.

Prior to the web series version, the story was launched in its film version which also caught up a little viewer’s attention. However, Ekta Kapoor has created her own version with a number of innovative outlines for the web version. Shares her experiences on this untold story based on true events to the audience, she clarified that this one is definitely going to be a lot more different than the film version

Talking about the web show, Ekta Kapoor said, “The movies that have been based on the case were lacklustre, and had an e-sided view about a man who killed another man to protect his wife, and the nation. The jury went against what was probably legally right and supported a man who killed someone, because his wife was having an affair. What wasn’t considered in cinema was that it was a consensual affair. Today, such an issue would be considered entirely personal. We have finally removed the law that treated women as property. That was a time when women were treated badly and were not allowed to take decisions. We’ve also explored the aspect of the wife being a foreign national. The magazine was criticised. There is a scene in the series that showcases the owner of a leading daily accusing the magazine owner of only attempting to make sales. The latter responds stating, ‘Years later, you will do the same thing “.

Ekta Kapoor is self known for taking up unique projects and her involvement with such a projected subject to be presented as a web series for her OTT platform brings in a lot of excitement. ALT Balaji will be presenting this highly controversial case of a Naval Commander K. M. Nanavati who killed his wife’s lover, Prem Ahuja which created a landmark amongst several other cases of the same nature in the history of India.

In the trailer, it can be seen that the actors from different platforms come together to play the uniquely different characters of this iconic case. Collecting records from various readings after the study of original documents, everything was undertaken for consideration by the makers for presenting this authentic case file for the audience.

Despite of the six decades long story, the trial kept revolving around infidelity, cold-blooded murder and patriotism which are definitely going to get a lot of attention. This 10-episode courtroom drama is based on public records, newspaper articles of the time, interviews with different people with extensive knowledge of the case- producing the content to be more real and authentic at the same time. While the result of the trial remains to be a known fact now, the series will be unfolding the different elements of the case.

ALTBalaji’s The Verdict – State Vs Nanavati is set to witness a complete host of theatre veterans who will be playing the pivotal roles.
