More than thirty years after Shah Rukh Khan’s seminal Bollywood debut in 1992, Deewana is about to make a comeback, this time with a sequel. Guddu Dhanoa, a seasoned filmmaker and Dharmendra’s first cousin, stated that Deewana 2 is formally in production in an exclusive News18 report.
“Deewana 2 is definitely occurring. We’re at the scripting phase right now,” Dhanoa disclosed. “There’s still some time before the film goes on floors as my web series will release before that,” he continued, adding that the sequel’s cast is yet unknown.
Raj Kanwar directed and Sagar Sarhadi wrote the 1992 romantic action drama Deewana. It features Shah Rukh Khan in his first role, Rishi Kapoor, and Divya Bharti. The protagonist of the movie is a young lady named Kajal (Divya Bharti). She endures a lot as a widow after her husband Ravi (Rishi Kapoor) disappears. She finally falls in love with Raja (Shah Rukh Khan), who enters her life and wins her heart. This was a huge smash and helped Khan’s Bollywood career get off the ground.
Additionally, Dhanoa disclosed that he is developing a follow-up to one of his previous songs. “My movie Bichhoo received a lot of positive reviews. We have a strong desire to produce Bichhoo 2, and the script is now being written.
In addition to working on follow-ups, Dhanoa is making his 18-year hiatus from Hindi cinema with Romeo S3, which will be released on May 16. Alongside Palak Tiwari, Thakur Anoop Singh plays the prominent role of a police officer in the movie.
Regarding his career, Shah Rukh Khan is scheduled to make his big-screen comeback with King, an action thriller helmed by Siddharth Anand, following the 2023 box office triumphs of Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Abhay Verma, Suhana Khan, and Deepika Padukone are also featured in the movie. According to reports, the movie will be released in theaters between October and December of 2026.
