After much talk and hype this week, 12th May 2017 saw the release of the third installment in the Sarkar franchise with the Ram Gopal Varma directed film Sarkar 3 hitting screens along with Yash Raj Films’ Meri Pyaari Bindu. Now, let’s talk about the Ram Gopal Varma’s franchise film Sarkar who has come this time with its third series. The film however was made with much of hope and aspiration with the view of making it bigger at the box office giving RGV a sense of relief. However, the opposite seems to have come to true.
Comparing the film to the previous series, as a matter of fact there is no comparison with its Part I and II. While Sarkar had lifetime collections of 26 crore and that too way back in 2005, Sarkar Raj had netted 35 crore in 2008. Even if one doesn’t count for inflation and ticket prices, Sarkar 3 would have the lifetime collections less than 50% of Sarkar and just around 30% of Sarkar Raj.
Sarkar 3 starring Amitabh Bachchan, released on May 12 had recorded an average response from audience. The film did not receive good reviews and Amitabh Bachchan was considered the saving grace of this Ram Gopal Varma film. Though the first day collections reflect the daunting path for the film, there are redeeming qualities to the movie that might help them from certain failure at box office. That is the coming weekend. Sarkar 3 managed to collect Rs 2.25 crore net. Talking about Sarkar 3 day 9 box office, it touches only 10 crore.
