Review

As said, the characters Santa and Banta are the known two iconic characters in India when it comes to puns and jokes. These two names have got a cult kind of status all thanks to one who is keen to a number of jokes over the years. In order to finally see these two fictional characters on the silver screen is a delight, thanks to the director who has made this possible. Unlike any other comedy film, SBPL is known to have a simple and predictable kind of plot, which is loaded and overloaded with humor punches with some of them appear to be simple and repetitive while others as genuine. The director though has tried to add some freshness with using the character nicely yet these have their own flaws. Both the half of the film appear to be similar though can vary in terms of pace and content at the end of the day making it unlike any other film.

In terms of star performance Boman Irani in the role of Santa is simply awesome and similar is the story of Vir Das. Both play the titular roles and known for their comic timing and has helped the movie to a laugh riot for the audience. Both were tremendous in their characters they played in the film who seemed to be stealing the show, though there are certain vague and repetitive kinds of jokes and punches hard to digest yet looking at the overall picture, the film seems to be entertaining. Now if you look at the actresses like Lisa Haydon and Neha Dhupia they are simply roped in the film to soar the temperature of the film. Lisa is okay in her action stuns and at times becomes worthy to catch, while Johnny Lever’s presence as don in Fiji Islands is an extension of humor in the film that comes with an impeccable sense of humor.

Now talking about direction, music, screenplay and other technical elements, things are okay, which helps in boosting up the entertainment value of the movie. The director has tried to add all the elements in the film to make the audience laugh though at times he is seen overdoing the same. The other elements like screenplay and dialogues are okay, while the technical elements like editing are okay and give a decent comedy film at the end.

Santa Banta Pvt Ltd Last Word

Santa Banta Pvt Ltd is essentially a comedy film with loads of humor in it backed with some plot that becomes interesting to catch along with the puns and jokes around. The performance from the lead actors like Boman Irani and Vir Das seems to be good making things better for the audience who all are keen to catch any light weight movie. If you are keen to catch up a comedy film without caring much about the story then SBPL becomes a cool option. But in terms of rating, it just close to above average hence don’t go with lots of expectations.

Rating – 3.0
