Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Begin Work on Madhubala Biopic Starring Sara Arjun
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is preparing to kick off production on the highly anticipated Madhubala biopic this September. The project will roll out immediately after Bhansali wraps up filming on his epic drama Love & War, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. The final schedule for Love & War, featuring a grand song sequence, is set to conclude at Royal Palms in Goregaon by the end of August.
Once the ongoing shoot wraps up, the production design team will take over the Goregaon location to transform the sets for the biopic. Directed by Jasmeet K. Reen, known for her acclaimed work on Darlings, the film gained significant momentum after Bhansali stepped in as the primary producer. The collaboration brings new life to a project that had previously experienced delays, positioning it as one of the major biographical features in development.
Rising star Sara Arjun has been cast in the legendary title role and has already begun intensive preparations. Following her widely noticed performance in the blockbuster Dhurandhar franchise, Arjun is now focusing on capturing Madhubala’s distinct screen presence, grace, and subtle mannerisms. Director Jasmeet K. Reen aims to create an authentic portrait of the star while meticulously recreating the golden era of Hindi cinema that she inhabited.
