Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Aakhri Sawal’ Delayed; Release Pushed to May 15 Due to Censor Hurdles
Sanjay Dutt’s upcoming historical drama, Aakhri Sawal, which was originally scheduled to hit theaters on May 8, is now unlikely to meet its release date. According to exclusive reports, the film is facing delays in securing its clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The certification process has reportedly hit a snag due to the film’s sensitive plot. While the makers have argued that the story is rooted in verified historical events and records, the CBFC committee is exercising extra caution. These prolonged discussions have not only delayed the film but have also held up the release of its trailer.
Faced with these hurdles, the producers have decided that a one-week delay is the most practical move. A source close to the project shared:
“The discussions between the makers and the CBFC have taken considerable time. Consequently, the producers felt it would be wise to push the film to a later date. They are now eyeing May 15 for the theatrical launch, provided the certificate is granted in time.”
Interestingly, Aakhri Sawal was initially slated for May 15 before being preponed to May 8 just last month; it has now returned to its original slot.
The key details of the Film include the Director who happens to be a National Award winner Abhijeet Mohan Warang (Picasso). while the star cast seems interesting. It is a multi-generational ensemble featuring Sanjay Dutt, Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty, Sameera Reddy, and Neetu Chandra, among others. The production house include A joint venture between Nikhil Nanda Motion Pictures and Sanjay Dutt’s Neem Tree Entertainment. The film has a Creative Team which include Screenplay by Utkarsh Naithani, music by Monty Sharma, and lyrics by Dr. Kumar Vishwas.
