The speculation about the sequel to the 2014 blockbuster Kick has been building up for two years now, it can now be confirmed that Kick 2 will finally go on floors in 2018.Says a source close to Sajid Nadiadwala, “He has finished writing 80 per cent of Kick 2. He has sounded Salman Khan out about the script and the actor loves it. They’ve decided to work on the film from the middle of 2018.” “Kick 2 would’ve happened in 2017 itself. But this year Salman is busy with Kabir Khan’s Tubelight and Ali Abbas Zafar’s Tiger Zinda Hai. Sajid has three releases lined up in 2017. First, there’s Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon, followed by Sabbir Khan’s Baaghi 2 and Judwaa 2. So, they’ve decided to work together in 2018.”
The same source goes on to inform that though Salman would play the same character that he played in Kick, “All the other characters would be different.” And that means no Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Randeep Hooda and no Jacqueline Fernandez. Salman Khan, too, had announced a while ago that Kick 2 will have a fresh pairing and that Jacqueline Fernandez won’t be a part of the sequel anymore. The reports post that claimed that Amy Jackson and Sonakshi Sinha were tough contenders for the role. Now, we hear that it’s not them but it’s Kriti who has taken the lead.
In an earlier interview, another source revealed that Salman is really fond of Kriti and is keen on getting her on board since a long time. First he wanted her to become the brand endorser of his team Mumbai Heroes in the CCL. There were also talks that he wanted to rope her in Kriti for Sultan. So for Kriti, the good news is just round the corner, it seems.
