Salman Khan Faces Legal Notice Over Alleged Misleading Pan Masala Advertisements

Salman Khan is currently embroiled in a legal controversy after a consumer court issued him a notice related to allegedly misleading advertisements for a pan masala brand. The complaint was filed by senior BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey, who accused Salman Khan and the product’s manufacturing company of deceptively promoting the product as “saffron-infused cardamom” and “saffron-infused pan masala.” Honey highlighted that saffron costs around Rs. 4 lakh per kilogram and argued that it “cannot be an ingredient in a product priced at Rs. 5.”

Honey also stated, “Salman Khan is a role model for many. We have filed this complaint in the Kota Consumer Court, which has issued notices for a hearing. Unlike celebrities in other countries who avoid endorsing harmful products, here they promote tobacco and pan masala. I urge them not to send the wrong message to youth, as pan masala is a leading cause of mouth cancer.”

Following the complaint, the Kota Consumer Court has formally issued notices to Salman Khan and the manufacturing company, seeking their responses ahead of the next hearing scheduled for November 27.It is important to note that Salman Khan has appeared in advertisements for the brand’s elaichi (cardamom) product, but not specifically for the pan masala itself. The company manufactures both products under the same brand name.

So far, neither Salman Khan nor the company has publicly responded to the notice. The upcoming hearing will determine if the court finds the promotional claims misleading and whether the actor’s involvement will lead to further legal consequences.
