Name : Salim Merchant, Sulaiman Merchant
Wiki – Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant are basically brothers born and brought up in Bujh in Kutch area of Gujarat. The duo has a pair of musical team and is among the popular pair in Bollywood. His father used to work in Ismaili Scounts Orchestra in India, which gave the boys music from their childhood. Salim went to Trinity College of Music in London wherein he learnt and mastered piano, while Sulaiman undertook his table training with seasoned musicians like Ustad Zakir Hussain and Taufiq Qureshi. It took 6 long years to turn popular music directors in Bollywood, wherein they got recognition with a movie called Bhoot leading them a couple of awards as well. Then came Iqbal, which also turned popular their music giving loads of accolades.
Biography : The other popular movies, which helped in carving their niche includes Neal N Nikki, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Fashion and Chak De. The duo was also seen performing at a number of places including Shweta Shetty, Viva Aasmaan, Style Bhai and Jasmine. The duo also gave a number of music for TV commercials including for Ustad Zakir Hussain and Ustad Sultan Khan. They got their first movie as Kaal from Karan Johar, which opened up other movies from Ram Gopal Varma, Subash Ghai and Yash Chopra. Before they composed the music they were involved in background scores for different movies. Salim was also seen in the judge panel of popular show called Indian Idol on Sony TV, while Salim Merchant song Ishq Wala Love remained at the top in different list of popular songs. This song really helped him reach the zenith of his stardom making others behind in 2012 when Student Of The Year was released.

They have worked together in other projects as well, which include particularly the Lady Gaga’s songs known as Born This Way and Judas, while the two were seen composing music for a Hollywood movie called Sold produced by Jeffrey D Brown the Academy Award winner. Also, they were the part of 2010 Fifa World Cup wherein they were seen collaborating with South African singer known as Loyiso Bala and the popular Kenyan singer and song writer known as Eric Wainaina who then recorded the anthem (a song called Africa You re A Star) for this big event. Salim has been the important part of judge’s team of Indian Idol along with singer Sunidhi Chauhan and Anu Malik for its season 5 and 6.
