Sakhi Tanwar is not an unknown name in small screen. She was born on 12th January 1973 in Alwar Rajasthan. She did her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalayas while for her higher studies she headed to New Delhi to join Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi. After her graduation, she was busy preparing for her IAS and Mass Communication exams when she was suggested by one of her friend to give audition for a DD film song called Albela Sur Mela. She auditioned for the same to bag the role, which marked the beginning of her role in TV. In fact, during her college days, she was active member of a theater group.

Soon she bagged the role of Parvati Aggarwal for the serial called Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki produced by Ekta Kapoor. The serial went long starting from 2001 to 2010. She soon got her role in other TV serials including Kutumb, Devi, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Bawandar, Balika Vadhu, Bade Acche Lagte Hain and Ek Thi Naaykia. Besides, she was also seen in the non-fictional TV series as well, which include Crime Patrol, Code Red and KaunBanegaCrorepati 6.

As far as films are concerned, she got the chance to work in B Town movies first was the film called KKcompany doing a cameo in it, while soon she was seen in other movies as well, which include SaluunSasji, Coffee House, Aatankwadi Uncle, Bawra Mann, Kahin Door and a Marathi film called Katya Kaljat Ghusali, etc. Last year she was seen in the film Mohallas Assi with Irrfan Khan, while her upcoming film is Dangal wherein she will be playing the character of Aamir Khan’s wife in it releasing this December 2016.

As far as the awards are concerned, she has won a number of applauds over the small screen from all the possible platforms. She got the best actress award Indian Television Academy Awards, India Telly Awards, Kalakar Awards and ITA for the TV serial called Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki for a series of years – 2002, 2003, 2004, 2010 followed by the same category award for the TV series called Bade Acche Lagte Hain for the three consecutive years – 2012, 13 and 14. Besides in 2013, she also won the most popular TV actress award as per the survey conducted by Ormax Media.
