The Night of the Incident
In his statement to the Mumbai police, Saif revealed that he was in the bedroom with his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, when he heard a scream. Recognizing the voice as that of his younger son Jeh’s nanny, Eliyama Philip, he rushed to the room, only to encounter the intruder. In a protective instinct as a father, Saif confronted the intruder, which resulted in a struggle during which he was stabbed six times. Despite his injuries, Saif emphasized his determination to fight back, successfully pushing the assailant away. He also praised the quick actions of his household staff, who managed to move Jeh to safety and subsequently locked the intruder in the same room.
Eliyama Philip’s Role in the Incident
For context, Eliyama, who also sleeps in Jeh’s room, sustained injuries while attempting to confront the intruder upon his entry. She reported that the assailant demanded Rs. 1 crore in exchange for Jeh’s safety, prompting her to scream for help to alert the rest of the household.
Aftermath of the Attack
Saif was quickly taken by autorickshaw to Lilavati Hospital for immediate medical attention. He underwent surgery the same day, with doctors confirming that he sustained severe injuries to his back, neck, and hands, the latter requiring plastic surgery.
