The wedding of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who exchanged vows and sealed the knot on Thursday, was a lovely occasion. Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Ranbir’s sister, gave a glimpse of the actual ‘tying of the knot’ ceremony, also known as ‘Gatbandhan,’ on Friday. In this Hindu wedding, the bride and groom will be bound in a sacred bond for the rest of their lives.

One end of the bride’s pallu or saree is tied to the groom’s customary scarf. Along with a coin, a flower, whole turmeric, durva grass, and some uncooked rice, during the ‘Gatbandhan’ ceremony. Riddhima Kapoor, the groom’s sister, and Karisma Kapoor performed the wedding ritual for Alia and Ranbir. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nitasha Nanda were also seen standing near them.

The Sabyasachi bride and groom looked simply stunning in ivory and gold. Making the official announcement on social media, Alia Bhatt shared a series of dreamy photos and wrote, “Today, surrounded by our family and friends, at home … in our favourite spot. The balcony we’ve spent the last 5 years of our relationship. We got married. With so much already behind us, we can’t wait to build more memories together … memories that are full of love, laughter, comfortable silences, movie nights, silly fights, wine delights and Chinese bites. Thank you for all the love and light during this very momentous time in our lives. It has made this moment all the more special. Love, Ranbir and Alia.”
