As we hear the clash of Prabhas’ Salaar and Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki on December 22, we hear one more film being added into the competition. The two films have already created a good buzz in the media. We have seen people raising concerns over the clash, which also include the trade and exhibitors. They will face screen allocation disputes, which remains a common issue at this juncture in the industry. We have seen how the exhibitors often face a dilemma in choosing between conflicting fmovies. This eventually helps in compelling theatres to navigate this problem on the release date December 22.
However, as per sources, there seems to be a potential resolution, which seemed to have been bringing a good relief to exhibitors and the trade. According to an insider, Salaar’s distribution by Anil Thadani’s AA Films, who also distribute Animal, seems promising. There were initial worries that Dunki’s screening might be affected, but Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment intervened to ensure fair treatment. Yes, you heard it right, even Animal was supposed to hit the theatres on the same day. But the makers of Dunki came forward to negotiate and avert this clash that could have turned into a nasty fight.
A source explained, “Red Chillies officials engaged with Animal’s producers to prevent potential screen conflicts. The producers of Animal cooperated and assured that exhibitors won’t face any undue pressure.” The incident demonstrates the industry’s maturity, emphasizing effective communication and preventing a screen battle between Dunki and Salaar.
