Rasbhari starring Swara Bhasker is about hypocrisy and discomfort backed with sexuality


Amazon Prime the popular among the OTT platforms is back in the news with yet another Swara Bhasker starrer series called Rasbhari. The show explores the hypocrisy that moves around female fierce desire in our patriarchal society where we live thus setting up altogether different benchmarks for men and women. Talking about the show, it is set at the backdrop of Meerut city and moves around the story of Nand played by Ayushmann Saxena who is a schoolboy.

He is in love with his teacher played by the B Town actress Swara Bhasker. With this things turn complicated when we people see the teacher with her sex obsessed alter ego. The series is produced by Tanveer Bookwala under the production banner Applause Entertainment and showcases the way the repressed people react to issues like female fierce desire. Talking about the same, the actress said it showcases the hypocrisy of our society view. The entire series happens to be a critique of patriarchy and patriarchal thinking when we see the fierce desire of women being repressed to the extent that it reaches to the ego. 

In other words, it showcases the hypocrisy and discomfort with understanding and sexulaity, which is meant to have different norms and standards both for men and women. Earlier, the show was making news for getting the reaction from the Censor Board chief Prasoon Joshi when he went critical to the sequence of a school boy dancing in a crowd.
