Kapil Sharma Takes Subtle Dig at Lawrence Bishnoi’s Gang During Netflix Event

Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma made a surprising and subtle remark about gangsters allegedly targeting him while speaking at the Netflix What Next event in Mumbai on Tuesday evening. The comment touched on a sensitive issue linked to attacks on his overseas business.
On stage with Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content, Netflix India, Kapil was celebrating his long-standing relationship with the streaming platform. During their conversation, Monika praised his work and joked, “Hamari nazar, India ki nazar toh bahut time se aap par hai, Kapil. Hopefully, 11 mulko ki police ki nazar nahi hone chahiye.”Kapil responded with a tongue-in-cheek comment that caught attention: “Ek do mulkon ke gangster bhi lage hue hain aaj kal.”
Many in the audience took this as an indirect reference to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, whose associates have been reportedly linked to multiple attacks on Kapil’s Canada-based restaurant, Kap’s Café, located in Surrey, British Columbia.
Realizing the sensitivity of his remark and that the event was live Kapil laughed and requested the videographers to cut that segment from the recording, only to realize the cameras were still rolling.Kap’s Café, opened in 2025 by Kapil and his wife Ginni Chatrath, has been targeted by gunfire three times within four months last year in July, August, and October resulting in property damage but no injuries.

Associates allegedly connected to the Bishnoi network, including Goldy Dhillon and Kuldeep Sidhu, have claimed responsibility on social media and warned the public to avoid the location.
Previously, Kapil commented on the incidents and the policing response during a press event for Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, noting that the matter had reached the federal level in Canada: “When our case happened, it went to the federal government… Just like we have our Central Government here, the matter was discussed in the Canadian Parliament.”
Professionally, Kapil was last seen in Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 and continues to host The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. Stay tuned for more only with us.
