Ramayana Clears US Censors with PG-13 Rating and Massive Runtime Ahead of Global Diwali Release

With its grand Diwali release just three weeks away, excitement is building rapidly for the epic film Ramayana, which is slated for the biggest global release ever for an Indian movie. As the makers work steadily toward its premiere, the film has achieved major milestones internationally, including clearing the censor process in the United States.

US Censor Certification and Runtime Details

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has officially cleared Ramayana with a PG-13 rating, which is comparable to India’s U/A certification. According to the official MPA website, this rating was awarded due to “sequences of strong violence and action, and some bloody images.”

In addition to its censorship clearance, official international listings have revealed the film’s substantial duration:

Global IMAX Runtime: The IMAX website lists the film’s duration at 3 hours and 15 minutes.

English Version Length: Trade sources indicate that the English version may be trimmed down to approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, though final runtime confirmations are expected shortly.

Career Milestone for Ranbir Kapoor

Ramayana marks Ranbir Kapoor’s immediate follow-up release to his 2023 blockbuster Animal. Notably, this makes it only the second film in Kapoor’s career—following Animal—to feature a runtime exceeding the three-hour mark. With its massive scale, high-octane sequences, and global rollout, anticipation for the festive release continues to soar.
