Rakesh Roshan’s iconic film Karan Arjun is set for a grand re-release after three decades. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan as brothers, the film was a massive success upon its original release in 1995. Interestingly, Hrithik Roshan, who would later become a superstar, worked as an assistant director on the film before making his acting debut.
In a recent interview with the Indian Express, Rakesh shared a humorous anecdote about making Hrithik feel “uncomfortable” on set. He explained, “He (Hrithik) had a choice to go abroad for further studies, but when I asked him what he wanted to do, he said he wanted to be an actor. I suggested he join someone as an assistant, and he insisted on joining me.”Rakesh continued, “But I made him a little uncomfortable. Even though we had breakfast at the same table, I would travel by car while he took the bus. On the way back, it was the same. He had to travel by train with the unit and share a room with four people. He did this for three films, not just one.”
Hrithik’s Rise to Stardom
After his time as an assistant director, Hrithik made his acting debut in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai in 2000, directed by Rakesh. The film, which starred Ameesha Patel alongside him, catapulted him to fame, making him one of the most bankable actors of his generation.Hrithik was last seen in Fighter, directed by Siddharth Anand, which revolves around a new elite unit called Air Dragons, commissioned by the Air Headquarters in response to militant activities in the Srinagar Valley. As Karan Arjun prepares to hit theaters again on November 22, 2024, fans are excited to relive the magic of this classic film, which continues to resonate with audiences even after all these years.
