Raju Srivastava health update: The comedian continues to be on life support

After suffering a heart attack, comedian-actor Raju Srivastava continues to be critical and on life support in the intensive care unit of AIIMS, New Delhi.

According to reports, Srivastava was brought to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on August 10 after suffering a heart attack. On the same day, the 58-year-old stand-up comic had an angioplasty. “His condition remains critical. There is no progress. He continues to be on life support,” the source told PTI.

Srivastava’s family sent a statement on his official Instagram page last Friday, saying his status was “stable” and asking people to “ignore any rumour/fake news being spread.”

The message read, “Dear all Raju Srivatava ji’s condition is stable. We are praying for his speedy recovery. The doctors are treating him and are doing their best. Thanks to all the well-wishers for their continued love and support. Please ignore any rumour/fake news being circulated. Please pray for him (sic).”

It was also stated that superstar Amitabh Bachchan wished Raju Srivastava a speedy recovery through video message, saying, “It’s enough Raju. Rise up Raju, and keep teaching us all to laugh.” Despite the fact that Raju is now unconscious, Big B’s message was played to him on the recommendation of experts who indicated that hearing a loved one’s voice can aid in faster recovery.

Srivastava was reportedly running on the treadmill when he went into cardiac arrest and was brought to the AIIMS. The comedian was whisked away to a catheterisation lab for emergency angiography. That day, he received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) twice.
