Rajkummar Rao to Collaborate with Manushi Chhillar for the First Time: Report
A few months back, while Rajkummar Rao was reveling in the acclaim he received for his role in Srikanth, rumors began circulating about his upcoming collaboration with producer Jay Shewakramani. The film, set to be directed by Pulkit, who garnered praise for his film Bhakshak, has now reportedly secured its female lead, with Manushi Chhillar expected to take on the role.
Rajkummar Rao has reportedly greenlit the project, which will mark the first time he shares the screen with former beauty queen Manushi Chhillar. “The makers were looking for fresh casting, and the pairing of Rajkummar and Manushi promises something new. Their chemistry is expected to create an interesting dynamic in the film,” a source shared with Pinkvilla.
The film is said to be a gangster drama that explores themes of power, betrayal, and redemption. Producer Jay Shewakramani confirmed that Rao is indeed collaborating with him and Pulkit, providing some insights into this untitled venture. According to Shewakramani, Rao has signed on, and they entered the pre-production phase in May. Recently, sources indicated that filming is anticipated to begin in India next month, with plans for a release next year. “While plot details remain under wraps, the film will commence shooting in September 2024, featuring an extensive schedule. Rajkummar is enthusiastic about this collaboration, which represents a shift away from his usual comedic roles,” the source added.
In the meantime, Rajkummar Rao is busy promoting his eagerly awaited horror comedy Stree 2, co-starring Shraddha Kapoor alongside Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee in pivotal roles. The film is set to hit theaters on August 15 and promises to deliver a blend of humor and thrills, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
