As a few filmmakers are seen releasing their films on an OTT platform, we still see the makers of Sara Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan starrer film Coolie No 1 opting only for a theatrical release. The film by David Dhawan was supposed to be released on 1st May but with the current lockdown on progress, the makers had to push the release date of the film. In the recent buzz, the makers have finally sold the distribution rights to Ekta Kapoor.Â
As per the Bollywood Hungama reports of the makers had sold the comic caper film to Ekta Kapoor at a whopping cost of 5 million INR. Now, Balaji Productions will have the rights for the same. Walking about the same, the officials from Balaji feel that the film is fresh with good star cast like Varun and Sara along with Paresh Rawal, Javed Jaffery and Rajpal Yadav.Â
The deal was signed before the COVID 19 lockdown started and since the lockdown has affected the industry, Ekta can renegotiate with the makers of the film. As per reports, they are now targeting to release the film on 1st Jan 2021. Talking about the same, the makers feel that New Year is the best time to release the film. They feel a comedy film will take away all the sorrow and bad times and add a colorful life.
