Raghava Lawrence and S J Suryah- starrer crime caper ‘Jigarthanda Double X’ to release on Diwali 2023
Raghava Lawrence and S J Suryah- starrer crime caper ‘Jigarthanda Double X’ has finally got a release date. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on this year’s Diwali i.e. 10 November 2023. Makers made the official announcement about the film’s release by sharing the film’s new poster and a short video clip on social media.
The short clip, features a man sitting on a chair and lighting fireworks in front of some corporate building. In the posters both actors’ costumes seem to be inspired by western genre films. Jigarthanda Double X’ is written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj and is a prequel to 2014’s superhit Tamil gangster drama film ‘Jigarthanda ‘, which was also helmed by Karthik Subheraj.

Meanwhile, ‘Jigarthanda Double X’ went on floors last December and the film is currently in post-production. The film has already created enough buzz on social media with its unique casting and innovative teaser and posters.
Talking about the film, director Karthik Subbaraj in his official statement to IANS said “I am happy that we have been able to lock Diwali 2023 as the release date for Jigarthanda DoubleX. It’s an ambitious project given the love that the predecessor, Jigarthada received. I am confident that this film will be a worthy successor to its prequel.”
Interestingly, Jigarthanda has also been remade in Hindi last year which was titled ‘Bachchan Pandey’. The film starred Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon. But the Hindi remake couldn’t replicate the same magic at the box office and turned out to be a huge box office flop.

‘Jigarthanda Double X’ is produced by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam under the banner of Stone Bench Films. Makers have kept the details about the rest of the cast and crew under wraps. Along with its original language Tamil, producers are also planning to release the ‘Jigarthanda DoubleX’ in Telugu and Hindi.
