The popular TIME Magazine needs no introduction. It is a popular periodical from the US and every year it releases the list of Hundred Most Influential People all across the world. They did this yesterday and to our awe and happiness, we have two Indian women included in this list. These include Senior Lawyer- Menaka Guruswamy and Lawyer Arundhati Katju, who are the two women who championed the battle to decriminalize homofierce desire in India in the Supreme Court.
The reports suggest that their profiles were jotted down by none other than Priyanka Chopra. Yes, you heard it right, Pee Cee had contributed their profile for the Time Magazine on the lawyers who did a big role in removing Section 377 in the country. The profile is written in beautiful words and Pee Cee said that she was moved with their battle and the way the SC in India had to struck down the Section 377 in the country with the unanimous vote. Talking about the same, she said the Indian Constitution carried the old and outdated legacy of British colonization and 377 was one of them.
Pee Cee further said that how the senior lawyers in the country had fought for the battle together. She called the decision of SC was a landmark, which did outcast the 157-year-old law. This was only possible with the meticulous efforts of the two ladies and it bagged good support from the people and the gay community in the country both socially and other fronts. Their efforts managed to get the love and safety for the community which was deserted and treated as untouchable in the nation. Talking about Priyanka Chopra’s work, she is gearing up for her next film The Sky is Pink.
