‘Queen’ best choice for “Revolver Rani”: Sai Kabir

kangana ranawat

The Gwalior-born director Sai Kabir feels that Kangana Ranaut is definitely the best choice for playing the lead character in his upcoming black comedy “Revolver Rani”.

On debuting with a female-oriented film, the director shares his wish to revive the times of Guru Dutt and Bimal Roy. ”There was a time when Guru Dutt and Bimal Roy used to take risk and took up subjects like these. But gradually after few years these subjects lost their sheen amidst male-oriented scripts and now the new generation filmmakers have revived the trend and are giving importance to the female characters,” tells Kabir.

Kangana has done justice with this non-glamorous and ugly looking character of hers in the film. “I don’t think any other actress would have done this role,” says Kabir. Though the film is set in the backdrop of the notorious Chambal area, the director denies his film to be rural and rustic and has a firm belief that from inside, modern India is still rural. The 27-year-old ‘Queen’ star will be seen playing a politician with a quirky dressing sense in the film. Kangana has proved herself over time with the films like ‘Tanu weds Manu’ and ‘Queen’ and has successfully carved a niche in this male dominated industry.

Having started his career as an assistant director to Kundan Shah and Aziz Mirza, Kabir has wrote the screen plays of many films. He entered the theater leaving his engineering degree in middle and joined Kundan Shah and Aziz Mirza at the age of 21 and worked with them for eight years. Kabir is again teaming up with Tigmanshu for his next film ‘Divine Lovers’, which will be a love story.

‘Revolver Rani’ is all set to strike the theaters on April 25.
