Preetika Rao is a known model, actress, singer and writer who are known to work in both small and silver screen. She was born on 29th May 1988 in Bhatkal in a family of adverting agency having its base in Mumbai. She has twin sister who has done her schooling from Bhatkal but shifted to Mumbai to do her graduation in History from Sophia College followed by getting her diploma in Mass communication and advertising. During her teens, she got the chance to work as a model and thus did a number of commercial ads from brands like Cadbury Dairy Milk with celebrity like Amitabh Bachchan that are made by the known filmmaker Shoojit Sarkar.
Preetika Rao kept on doing a couple of ads and escalated her modeling career to new heights apart from being active in the print and TV ad campaigns. She then headed to Chennai to do her advance course in film journalism from Chennai wherein she worked with groups like South Side, Bangalore Mirror, Chennai Times Mumbai Mirror, Indian Forums, Asian Age and Deccan Chronicle. Soon she got an offer from Bollywood getting a good role in the film Jaane Tu .. Ya Jaane Na in 2008 followed by Aashiqui 2 in 2013. She also got the chance to work in Tamil movie called Chikku Bukku in 2011 with Media One Global Ent. Pvt. However, she soon headed to NY to join the known institute called New York Film Academy to do her diploma program in Broadcast Journalism.
On retuning in 2014, Preetika went on to do regional cinema and small scree shows in different TV channels including Beintehaa at Colors TV wherein she played the character of Aaliya Zain Abdullah that turned out to be a household name. As far as the awards are concerned, she won the Best Actress award at the known Kalkar Awards in Calcutta in 2015 apart from the Zee Gold Best Debut & The ITA Performer of the Year in 2014–2015. She is currently gearing up for a Tamil film called Rebbel, which is in the pre-production mode.
