Ranbir Kapoor Responds to ‘Animal’ Criticism, Suggesting Monstrous Box Office Success Trumps All

The makers of the film “Animal” recently celebrated its tremendous success at the box office with a grand event. The star-studded cast, including Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Siddhant Karnick, and others, along with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, made a dazzling appearance at the event. Since its release on December 1, the film has faced criticism for allegedly glorifying misogyny, toxic masculinity, and violence. Following Vanga’s response, Ranbir Kapoor has now addressed the backlash the film has received.

Earlier today, the film made headlines once again as it responded to veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar’s criticism, who labeled its success as ‘dangerous.’ In response, the makers told Akhtar that his art form was a ‘big falsehood.’ Read on to discover what Ranbir Kapoor has to say about the hatred the film has faced.

During the success celebration, Ranbir Kapoor hinted at the massive box office collection of “Animal” and emphasized that nothing surpasses the love for movies. Speaking to the media, he said, “I want to thank all of you for being here today to celebrate ‘Animal.’ It is a film that some people had issues with, but I believe that the love, success, and numbers it has achieved prove that nothing surpasses the love for a movie. Nothing goes beyond movies.” Following the film’s release, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga also addressed the negativity surrounding “Animal” and dismissed the criticism, stating that only a few individuals were labeling it as misogynistic.

In response to Javed Akhtar’s criticism, the Twitter page of “Animal” wrote, “A writer of your caliber cannot understand the betrayal of a lover (between Zoya & Ranvijay), then your entire art form is a big falsehood. If a woman (betrayed and fooled by a man in the name of love) were to say ‘lick my shoe,’ you guys would celebrate it by calling it feminism. Let love be free from the politics of gender. Let’s just call them lovers. The lover cheated and lied. The lover said ‘lick my shoe.’ Period. @Javedakhtarjadu.” Meanwhile, “Animal” has taken the box office by storm, earning over 500 crore rupees domestically and 900 crore rupees worldwide. It continues to make waves with its phenomenal collections.
