As the popular OTT platform Netflix makes news for their next series called Betaal produced under the Shah Rukh Khan production house Red Chillies Entertainment, we hear something unusual about it. As per reports, two of the Marathi writers have claimed that the story of the said series resemble the ones which they have written for their next Zombie based script called Vetaal.
As per reports, the writers include Sameer Wadekar and Mahesh Goswami and the duo has filed a case against the production house and the OTT platform Netflix. They have even knocked the doors of Bombay High Court, which came just after the trailer release last week. Talking about the same, Sameer has been approached by various production companies with their story. However, they were never approached by SRK’s production house. The writers are still confused as to how their idea reached the production house.
They informed me that the script was registered with the Screenwriters Association(SWA). They have even registered a complaint with the SWA as well, while the SRK produced series has been written by Patrick Graham and Suhani Kanwar. It revolves around the counter-insurgency squad, which aims to displace the tribals from a village. On the contrary, Wadekar claimed that their story is based around an environmentalist who stands with the villagers who are displaced to grab their land by a mining company. On the other side, the Bombay HIgh Court has rejected the petition saying that the writers will not get any compensation if they fail to prove plagiarism.
